Turkey, Greece, and the Mediterranean Sea

 

Explore the Mediterranean roots of western Christianity and the modern world through close encounters with the people, land, sea of the Mediterranean. Visit the ancient/modern cities of the Mediterranean, examine the ancient Greco-Roman world and the amazing Roman Empire. Encounter the Christian movement of the first century, Eastern Christian Empire, and Islam. Learn about contemporary expressions of globalization’s roots in the Mediterranean world.

This learning adventure will involve immersion into the history and culture of the world of Acts and Paul’s travels, as well as the great cities and remote harbors of the Mediterranean today. In addition to visits to Istanbul and Athens, and world famous archeological sites such as Ephesus and Corinth, an entire week eating, sleeping and sailing aboard a traditional wooden Turkish gulet along the beautiful southern Turkish coast with stops in a variety of biblical, scenic and historic sites along the way. Ferry, bus and public transportation as needed.

  • Open tours are now offered by the leading Turkish agency for biblically oriented learning travel in the Mediterranean, Tutku Educational Travel, is now offering the popular SailingActs tour for the first time. This land and sea tour follows our favorite itinerary along the beautiful southern coast of Turkey aboard a gulet.   • Highlights include Istanbul, Perge, Antalya, Finike, Myra, Patara, Knidos, Bodrum, Melitus Didyma, Kusadasi, Ephesus, Samos (Greek island), Corinth, Athens and other places of historical and cultural interest not mentioned in the book of Acts.
  • Approximate costs currently begin around $4,200. This includes room and board (breakfast and dinner on land, full board at sea) domestic airfare within Greece and Turkey, all sea and land transportation, and entrance fees. Does NOT include international airfare.
  • Each participant will make arrangements and pay for their own international flights to Istanbul and from Athens.
